Selectmen approve $2.77 million paving contract with FGB Construction
Board of Selectmen · Meeting of May 5, 2026
New Canaan selectmen approve $2.77 million paving deal as a two-decade road plan wraps up. The Board of Selectmen unanimously awarded FGB Construction $2,519,497.25, plus a $252,000 contingency, to pave 15 roads, with Public Works Director Tiger noting crews were finishing Pine Street, "the last road on our list." Superintendent Brian told the board a kindergarten enrollment spike at West Elementary, running "about 30% higher" than typical, will likely require a $500,000 special appropriation for new teachers and a pre-K relocation to South Elementary. The board also approved a $505,424.52 overlay and crack-sealing contract, a $293,949 dump truck, a $134,940 skid steer, and appointed George Daniels, Joseph B.
Riker, Erica Rasmussen and Dr. Tim Kenneck to town boards.
