Greenwich Selectmen approve outdoor dining fees, opioid settlement
Board of Selectmen · Meeting of April 9, 2026
Greenwich Selectmen lock in Oct. 4 dining season end, join $97.6 million opioid settlement. The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to approve the 2026 outdoor dining fee schedule, with Selectwoman Rachel Khanna favoring the earlier close so DPW can pivot to leaf pickup and Selectwoman Lauren Rabin going along despite preferring Oct. 18. Town Administrator Kate Buch called new barrier covers "a big plus" for restaurants.
The board also voted to join a national opioid settlement worth approximately $97,625,000, of which Greenwich will receive a 0.0225 percent share, per Assistant Town Attorney Rosemarie Barretta. First Selectman Fred Camillo pressed to extend the "way too short" 10-day appeal window for speed camera tickets. The board held a lengthy hearing on resident Laureen Taylor's ADA grievance appeal, with a written decision due by April 24.
