Charter panel weighs parking, school board and wetlands changes
Other Committee · Meeting of February 11, 2026
New Canaan's charter subcommittee reworks parking, schools and wetlands language ahead of full-commission review. Group One members Steve Case, Crystal Brace, Joe Pollock and Angela Jameson met with Parking Commission officials, including Tucker Murphy, to address a reporting-structure gap and an appeals provision requiring an ordinance officials say does not exist. Inland Wetlands Chair Jameson opposed shrinking her seven-member panel, saying she'd "rather have seven regular members where the quorum therefore is four rather than five where the quorum would be three." The group agreed to shorten a Board of Education vacancy-filling deadline from 90 to 30 days and to cite Connecticut General Statute 10-157 on superintendent oversight.
New town seal language, drafted with the town clerk, restricts reproduction of the seal and logo to official use with her written permission. Members approved the February 4 minutes unanimously and adjourned.
